MHI Cafe Toasted Hazelnut: Good But No Sizzle!Mar 24, 2012

Generally, items such as this can be found at local grocery stores but lately this type of MHI coffee is particularly hard to find in my neck of the woods (either because of spotty supply or unusually high demand) which is somewhat strange considering that this confection is almost entirely artificial. The coffee cans I'm reviewing here are of the metal variety (these seem to have been phased out by MHI and replaced with plastic boxes) and as such they must have been new old stock. Impossible to tell how old they were because the expiration date that was supposed to be printed on the bottom of each can was not there. As for the taste, the coffee tasted okay (much as expected) but it was missing that sizzle (when first you add hot water in the cup) that is the hallmark of this toasted hazelnut coffee (when new). I assume that although sealed, the sealing of those metal cans is not perfect and given enough time the coffee will absorb some water vapor from the air resulting in, well - no sizzle... so four star.
