4Perfect for survival kitJul 22, 2009

NEBO CSI TACTICAL FLASHLIGHT - - CAMO

I recieved this last week for my Bug-Out-Bag (B.O.B.) that rides with me in my truck pretty much everywhere. I have all kinds of goodies that would help me survive/be rescued if something bad were to happen to me... I read all the details of this flashlight and others on amazon, as well as the one offered on cabelas. I chose this one for a very very particular reason (well, a set of reasons)...

They are (Pros):

-Cheap Enough
-Excellent build quality for the cost (rivals that of a surefire/fenix/pelican)
-pretty bright (I have a 230 lumen G2 Led, and this is about 1/3rd the brightness, which is decent enough because of the other things that it does)
-integrated laser for signaling
-hold down the button for 4 seconds, and it morse code flashes "SOS" which seems to me like something that could get a helicopter/plane/ship/ranger station's attention much easier than other things.
-all aluminum construction
-runs on AAA batteries (much much MUCH easier to find than say, a CR123)

Cons:

-had 4 different stickers on it telling me not to look directly into it, including one that was placed over the laser, but still clear, which makes you go "what the heck? there's something in the laser beam, (look into beam, read thing that says not to, turn it off, remove it, laugh).

5Nice multi-functioned flashlightNov 29, 2010

I mounted this on my shotgun and it has performed flawlessly. Yeah, it's inexpensive but it has a nice feature set for the price and seems to work well on high recoil firearms.

I do like the form factor on this flashlight. It feels substantial and sits securely on its side without rolling.

The light, however, is a little more diffuse than I like. I prefer a brighter, more directed beam. And after a couple of months of using it, I've become increasingly annoyed by the feature sequence. To turn it on in regular mode, you click once. That's good. However, to turn it back off, you have to cycle through the pulse and the laser cycles, which I sometimes overshoot when I'm in a hurry, so I'll have to start over, meaning I'll have to click either three or seven times to turn it off. That's just a minor annoyance, but recently, someone else used it and then apparently left it on in laser pointer mode and it drained the battery.

Also, it doesn't have any kind of wriststrap or easy means to attach one, so I had to juryrig something just to be able to attach it to a strap.

I have a little flashlight spot where I keep this, a small Cree, and a cheap, no-name mini flashlight that I found in a gutter. The Cree is always my first choice, but if that's not there, it's a tossup between this and the gutter flashlight.

4great little light for your backpack or glovebox.Apr 08, 2011

Excellent inexpensive light. I thought mine was a defective unit until I tried fresh batteries and it worked fine. The laser pointer is a surprisingly functional addition to this cool little light. I got mine for around $15 with free shipping and it's been a great deal so far.

Feels really great in the hand, like it more than any other flashlight I've had.
